What can be more important than turning one year older?? haha yes, im 22 years old now! Like I said on fb/instagram, I dont agree with Taylor Swift because I dont feel anything when I turned 22 last Thursday! To me, it just felt like another year and I have became older! But I do start to ponder more about the future as time seems to fly past before you know it! Just last year, my parents celebrated my 21st birthday grandly.. to which some (ok not some but more than half of the guests who attended) said it felt like a wedding!! hahah I think everyone laughed the most when my emcee said something to my dad on stage "Now your daughter is celebrating her 21st birthday! Very soon, its gona be her wedding?" (everyone burst out laughing except my dad who just smiled.. awkwardly! haha)

Speaking of 'my weddings'....  I attended 2 weddings this month & both without fail, people have asked me "So when is your turn? Anytime soon??" or to my parents "So next is Crystal's?" (ending off with a big long laugh which I find it hilarious though.. ahaha)! But neh, I'm not gona be getting married anytime near in the future (maybe within the next 5 years) because of school & thereafter, I have to start working to have a stabled income! But most importantly, I dont even have a boyfriend to begin with (if my parents are reading this, I think you can relax now instead of thinking if I have one or not! haha)!

Ok, I have drifted away from the topic! Anyways, my cousin Jordan & his girlfriend, Lauren, were in Singapore when I celebrated my birthday! As I had exams in the night of my birthday, I couldnt enjoy much during the day as I was stucked at home studying for Statistics2 exam which was the only horrible thing that happened during my day because of my lecturer! I mentioned it in my last post, so I wont say it again! Urgh, it really makes my blood boil whenever I think of what happened!
During the whole day, my phone was continuously filled with fb notifications, incoming messages & calls to wish me on my day, and i felt so happy! It really made my day/night! Felt so blessed & thankful to everyone who remembered!

After exams, my parents, Jordan & Lauren came down to fetch me from school, and off we went to Salted Caramel to have ice-cream!
(Chocolate Sorbet & Baileys ice-cream waffle, topped with maple syrup)

I have always wanted to try their waffles because everyone on instagram said it was good.. AND INDEED! Jordan & Lauren tried it & they really liked it too! My dad, was one 'drama king'... He said the Vanilla ice-cream wasnt THAT nice, but instead he nicely went to have another round of vanilla & chocolate ice-cream! haha wth

After that, came home to cut my birthday cake! In my family, it is a birthday tradition that we must cut our birthday cakes no matter what, especially to do it at home! Mom got me my red velvet cake which I really loved it because it had mini marshmallows & a macaron on top of it! Plus, it was customized to my middle name (first name was too long so they had to do with the middle name)!! hehe still loved it

(One of my favourite birthday cakes ever)

(cant rmb if dad cracked a joke or was making fun of me! haha)

(If you notice, Jords was tall so the pict had to be taken far away! hahah)

(With Lauren! She really is a nice girl)

(face looks fat from ice-cream & wafffles)

(mom got kiasu and went to buy more cupcakes, cakes & macarons! lol reasonswhyiamfat)

(My cousin & his gf's surprise bday gift to me! TOOO GOOD I TELL YOU)
(Another surprise bday gift from Hanisah, when I went to school for exams!)

I really enjoyed my 22nd birthday! Simple & even more meaningful! Why more meaningful? I have never had an exam on my birthday & Jordan was around on my birthday for the first time ever, since he was either in NZ or UK since I was born!

My birthday dinner was done on the next day, because it was a friday & I could take a break from studying! I was craving for fried mantou & chilli crab so mom decided to pick Jumbo Seafood at East Coast! Another reason was because, it was gona be Jords & Lauren's final night in Singapore and Jords love the seafood here!

(Diced chicken & dried chilli! My all time favourite chicken dish & Jumbo did an amazing job! Chicken was chewy & tender)

 (Salted egg & fried prawns!)

(Beancurd with brocolli & mushrooms!)

(

(Frogs legs with ginger! Thanks to my dad, I actually am ok with eating frogs legs)

(Aother one of my favourite dish... Seafood Youtiao & mayonnaise)
(The last dish that came & probably the highlight of it!! Fried mantou & chilli crab)

(My all time favourite dessert... Honeydew Sago!!! )

I think this one of the best birthday dinners I had with my family! Usually, we order pizza from Pizza Hut but this year, i wanted something different! Almost all the food ordered,  I ate alot that I didnt hesistate but to just whack only! Plus, they all tasted ABSOLUTELY DELICIOUS! That probably explains why Jumbo Seafood is so popular!

Now, I want to talk about something unexpected that happened at Jumbo while dining with my family! The waitress who took down our orders, really surprised us! Because I could speak Mandarin, my mom asked me to communicate with her! Her name is Zhang Xiao Qing and she could speak fluent English! She is from Qingdao but lived in Shanghai (made me squeal abit because it reminded me of 2 years ago in China)! She got a shock that I could speak Mandarin fluently & we talked about other stuff! At this point of time, my mom was curious because we were laughing alot! Mom kaypoh abit and asked what did we talk about... I said "Oh, nothing!" And she just gave a -_- look!
We were enjoying our meal, and Xiao Qing came to our table once in a while to make sure everything was ok! After our meal, I checked for desserts & they had my favourite dessert! Its really difficult to find a place that has a nice bowl of honeydew sago because some places dont cook it nicely! I told Xiao Qing i wanted one bowl for myself and she looked at me and said in Mandarin, "I will give it to you for free!" I looked at her and my jaws dropped! I immediately told her it was not necessary & didnt want her to do that! But she insisted on it and just walked away without hearing my reason! I felt so bad simply because people like her come to our country to earn a living & I know she is a hard working employer! Its not an easy job & I didnt want her to spend abit of her hard earned money on me! Felt super duper guilty :/
When I received it, I gave my cousin to try some because it was different & beyond my expectations (yes i have high standards for my dessert... dont judge)! It had pomelo, honeydew balls & sago which went well together! I can eat it all day but will get many warnings, or even scoldings from my parents from eating too much because its a cooling dessert, that can cause me to fall sick! I ordered one more bowl for my cousin & I think she didnt count that in our bill as well (idk if she forgot about the second bowl or didnt want to count it in)! BUT STILL, FEELING EVEN MORE GUILTY :(

I was extremely happy & delighted the whole night! She didnt know it was my birthday the day before but, her little act really made my birthday dinner an exceptionally memorable one :) Now it gives me another reason to go back to Jumbo, not for free dessert but to see her again!

(My happy pill of the night! lol)

(Jumbo, our faces said it all.. We love you)

Goodbye.
